China’s infrastructure development hit another milestone on the 19th of December 2013 with the full opening of the world’s longest high speed rail line.

Connecting Beijing with Guangzhou at speeds of over 300kph, the 2,298-km route halves travel time between the two cities to 8 hours.

As beyondbrics reported last year, China is leading the world in the scale of its high speed rail development plans, pledging to expand the network to reach 18,000km by 2015.
