The 4th Dec. 2009, one of biggest Chinese BT websites, BTChina, went off-line which is the direct symbol of restriction on copyright affairs in China.
This is not a lonely event in recent copyright movement which launched by Chinese government. UUbird.com, a typical, also one of the biggest BT websites in China, released their business reform plan which will convert UUbird into a SNS website with online gaming and movie review function.
Beside that, almost all Chinese BT websites are unreachable.
At the beginning of 2008, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT for short) worked out a regulation on online video service, which asked online video websites to get a permit first. But the precondition is only 100% state-own online video service company can apply for that permit.
From Sep. 2009 till now, all private own BT websites have been shutdown or forced to offline.
Under the name of copyright protection and porn-site-no, SARFT successfully helps state-own companies to take the online video market over.
This movement will never stop. The defination of online video service is not limited in BT seed service, Youku.com, Tudou.com, Ku6.cn are listed in.
May be next year, peoples in China will only can watch and download CCTV programs from internet.
