At the end of March 2010, a 78-year old man, Huang Rixin, built a cell apartment (smaller than 2 sqm) for graduates.
Now the first resident, 25-year lady, Zhang Qi moved in after one day trial period.
The cell apartment allow you to watch TV and surf internet.
Huang Rixin got this idea from newspaper which reported the story of Japan's cell apartment (The only difference is - Japan's cell apartment is designed for the jobless; His Beijing cell apartment is designed for graduates):
Zhang Qi is working in a Beijing advertising agency, her salary is about 3000-4000RMB per month. She is the only one who stay after the trial period in Beijing cell apartment.
"It's cold and noisy during the evening", she blames the terrible sound insulation with smile, "But I will get used to it very soon."
"The only barrier for me is the cell apartment don't have washroom," Zhang Qi said, "I have to run out this building to take a shower".
She is very optimistic. "This is my own place, I can hang my photos on the wall, my future has nothing related with where I live".
