Passersby must have thought there was something in the spring air on Beijing Road in Guangzhou, south China on Monday. Multiple gay couples let their passions loose in unabashed public smooches to raise awareness about gay life in China.

The ‘kissing festival’ was organised by China Pride. Three couples took part and there was no negative reactions from passersby.

'The purpose of this event is to improve the society awareness of the LGBT group and promote the idea of "The equal life, fair in love and impartial for gay affection",’ Daw, one of the organisers told Gay Star News.

China Pride are now organising another gay kissing festival in Beijing on 8 April.
