A five-day Chinese film show opened in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka on Tuesday to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China and as the prelude to the kick-start of CRI-SMF Confucius classroom on Oct. 29.
As one part of Confucius Institute, the CRI-SMF Confucius classroom, which is engaged in teaching Chinese Language to those who intend to learn, was established on Feb. 14, 2009, jointly by China Radio International and Shanto-Mariam Foundation of Bangladesh which is a non-political and non-profit organization dedicated to offering creative and job-oriented education.
According to CRI-SMF Confucius classroom, the Chinese film show will last for five days from Oct. 20 to 24.
The audience can appreciate ten Chinese famous films and documentaries, including New China in Her First 60 years, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, Mulan, etc, which will present the Bangladeshi people an overall and amazing China.
At the inauguration ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Zhang Xianyi said the establishment of CRI-SMF Confucius classroom remarks the extension and further cooperation in the educational fields between China and Bangladesh.
"CRI-SMF Confucius classroom will make a splendid achievement in enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening educational and cultural exchange and cooperation between China and Bangladesh." he said.
Shamsul Haq, Vice-Chancellor of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology and Member, Board of Directors of CRI-SMF Confucius classroom, said at the same function if Bangladeshi people can overcome the language barrier, they can share with China in various aspects on educational, cultural and business promotion and through which they can boost up their national economy.
Around 200 people from Chinese embassy, Bangladesh-China People' s Friendship Association and Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology attend the ceremony, and after that, they appreciated the documentary of New China in Her First 60 years.
