The Jiaoling deep-sea submersible has arrived at a testing-site in the West Pacific Ocean in preparation for a dive attempt that will take it 7,000 meters below sea level.

The submersible is undergoing internal checks before its scheduled dive later this week, pending weather conditions. Three dive men will take the trip from inside the submersible. The Jiaolong is the world’s first manned submersible designed to reach depths of 7,000 meters below sea level.
